With the holidays fast approaching most of us are feeling that sense of impending doom….. OH NO…Whatever will I do… I can’t send Harry & David Pears again this year…. Can I?  Well we’ve decided that for the first time in our collective 100 plus years, we’re not going to be responsible for the FedEx driver working on Christmas morning.  And, since we are now a part of the wonderful world of internet commerce, what better place to start our search for those perfect gifts than Google.

As soon as we find those interesting little virtual outposts we’ll share them with you.  And to introduce this segment we’re pleased to share a great find; unica HOME.  They are located in Las Vegas, Nevada but you can shop their entire catalog online click here.  Check it out now because most items have about a 3 week delivery estimate.

Of course, we were especially attracted to their wonderful designer lighting for any budget.  The ones you see here by Artenica are called mid summer light designed by Tord Boontje, although we think they have more of a winter holiday look to them.  They sell for only $78.00 plus minimal shipping.

Mid Summer Lights are described by unica HOME as  “cascading layers of dazzling forest creatures and foliage, tord boontje’s midsummer light adds an enchanting glow to any room. the recipient of multiple design awards and featured in countless leading publications, midsummer light is destined to become a design classic. midsummer light is constructed from two layers of cut tyvek, a super-resistant paper material, draped over a protective heat-blocking cone.”

unica HOME has lighting selections from many manufacturers and designers including FOSCARINI, Artimede, and FontanaArte just to name a few.  While you’re there check out the selections for those with champagne and caviar budgets.  I especially like the RAIN lighting series by anthologie quartett.  With prices for these beautiful crystal ceiling lights running from $3,000 to nearly $6,000…. who wouldn’t like them.  Of course, at that price you should just go vintage with a pair of our wonderful Venetian lamps right here at Swank Lighting…..sorry couldn’t resist.
