These opaline Murano lamps are absolutely gorgeous! The glass is a true lilac - it is such a vivid hue that it almost has a grape flavor to it, like hard candy. There are tons of controlled bubbles scattered throughout.
The process to create opaline glass required the glass blower to blow lead powder directly into the glass during the process. This is now prohibited due to health concerns.
Opaline glass is also very difficult to photograph. Please see the last photo, taken without flash, for the truest representation of the color.
The lamps stand 32 1/4 inches tall to the socket top. The glass portion is 20 inches. The base is an antique gold leaf over solid wood, and is 5 inches square.
